Pee-Wee on Broadway

I must confess, I grew up on a heavy dose of Pee-Wee Herman, played by Paul Reubens. I loved Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (directed by Tim Burton), and I tuned in to Pee-Wee’s Playhouse every Saturday morning on CBS back in the 80s. Needless to say, while I was bummed after Reubens’ “incident” in 1991, I long hoped that he’d make a triumphant return as the hilarious grown up kid that I remembered from my childhood.

Reubens has managed to maintain a fairly successful career playing other roles throughout the years, but recently he has actually resurrected the characer of Pee-Wee Herman by taking his comic sketches to Broadway as well as making various appearances on TV programs like The Tonight Show (Leno and O’Brien). Now, his Broadway show will be taking on the form of a TV special for HBO March 19th at 10 PM EST! Check out the trailer after the jump!

Hoth Battle NYCImage from One Cool Thing a Day

Since the “Blizzard of 2011” seems to be the hot topic in today’s news, it seemed fitting to post artist Colin McGreal‘s great Star Wars-themed photos of a blizzard, apparently from some time last year, depicting various “Hoth” scenes set in real world New York City. These are really cool. Check ’em out below!

When Batman Begins was released, I really thought there would be no way to top it. It was the perfect Batman movie in my eyes. Then, director Christopher Nolan came back for a second time with The Dark Knight, achieving the impossible by making a movie that is somehow more perfect.

So what if someone who worked on both films, and who will be working on the third, came along and said that The Dark Knight Rises is even better? When asked on the Kevin and Josh Movie Show how Nolan can top The Dark Knight, cinematographer Wally Pfister said, “I read the script 2 weeks ago, and he’s done it. Plain and simple — he’s done it.” Read on for more!

Fringe Producers

FOX’s TV series Fringe, while fairly successful, has not gained huge ratings for the network, and ever since the announcement came that the show was moving from Thursdays to Fridays, fans and non-fans alike assumed the worst since many of the network’s shows that made the move to Fridays ended up getting canceled.

To address the fans on this issue, Fringe‘s Facebook page posted a great little featurette with producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman where they address the mid-season move to Fridays and why the fans shouldn’t be worried (last Friday’s ratings should also prove to be encouraging). It really sheds some much needed light on the situation and everyone who was skeptical of the show’s new night should at least check it out. Hit the jump to watch!

Adjustment Bureau

Back in May, PCM posted the trailer for The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and Terence Stamp. It was originally set to debut last September, but was delayed and will now be released March 4th of this year.

The film is about an organization called – you guessed it – “The Adjustment Bureau,” which essentially monitors everyone’s fate and makes sure people do not steer off the path, so to speak. As Matt Damon so perfectly describes in this new featurette, it focuses on “fate verses free will, and what happens if you thumb your nose at fate.” Hit the jump to watch the new featurette!

Alien

It appears that just about everything we thought we knew about Ridley Scott‘s supposed Alien prequel(s) is now inaccurate. While Scott‘s project started out as a prequel to the film Alien (Scott directed the original film from 1979) – the story has evolved into something more original ever since Lost writer Damon Lindelof came on board. The project, now officially titled Prometheus, has virtually nothing to do with the Alien universe any longer, according to Deadline. Read on to find out more!
