It seems that Alison Groves from the Big Light Social Network is saying that “a certain well liked pair of FBI agents” will make a cameo on the season premiere of FOX’s Fringe TV series on September 17th! [Rumor shot down by XFilesUltmate.com - Read on for details]

Big Light is Frank Spotnitz’s website. Spotnitz wrote and produced many episodes of The X-Files. No details on how or why Mulder and Scully would make a cameo on Fringe, but it would make sense considering the nature of the show. It is a similar type of show to The X-Files, in that there are weird, crazy abnormal things that happen in this world and someone has to investigate it.

I loved the first season of Fringe, and it only got better with every episode. I am really hoping that this is true and that I may get to see Mulder and Scully again before they [hopefully] make The X-Files 3. But for now, I have to say that this is still only a rumor, since they didn’t reveal who the FBI agents would be.

Fringe is moving to Thursday nights at 9PM EST this fall after Bones.

Update: “Spooky Sam” from XFilesUltimate.com shot down this rumor:

If you haven’t already heard, there’s a rumor going around that the characters of Mulder and Scully are to make a cameo on the season 2 premiere of Fox’s Fringe.

I emailed the official Gillian Anderson website yesterday to see if their was any truth to this claim. Here is the full response I received:

“Dear Sam,

There is NO truth to that rumor.

Best Wishes,

Mari

So there you have it.

Dang it! Well, perhaps someone on the show will be watching a clip from The X-Files TV show or one of the movies? Hey, I can dream, can’t I?

I forgot that I had guessed that! And yes, that wasn’t the only X-Files nod in the show.

There was a meeting about the future of the Fringe division, and a comment was made about it: “X-Designation.” The gray-haired actor (Ken Camroux) who played the senator named “Kenneth Taylor” in this episode originally played a character on X-Files – one of the guys from the pilot episode who assigned Scully to the X-Files to spy on Mulder.
