In recent months, this site has reported some information about the possibility of bring the 1990s TV series Millennium to the big screen. Well, BacktoFrankBlack.com has provided some more information on the status of this project as well as their campaign to help bring back Frank Black.

BacktoFrankBlack.com‘s James McLean recently e-mailed me with this update:

“So far as the movie goes, things are bright. Yes, Lance [Henriksen] is in contact with private investors in the film industry ready to back a movie with a substantial amount of money. Chris Carter has gone on record saying that he would be happy to make another Millennium movie (as has producer/Millennium writer Frank Spotnitz), its just a question of money more than anything.

While we’ve had no comment from FOX themselves, FOX are aware of the BacktoFrankBlack campaign and the fan postcards and letters that have been sent on our behalf. Lance’s contacts are investigating the legal rights behind Millennium to see what groups need to be consulted/approached to actually secure or at least motivate such a project. As with all things in the film industry, it’s a slow process but Lance himself remains optimistic that with fan and industry interest in Millennium, that something will happen!

Lance is going to all lengths to maximise the chances of bringing back Millennium and plans to be working even closer with our campaign to make a Millennium movie a reality. Lance will do pretty much anything to get Millennium back as Frank Black is a character that he himself has not completed his journey with.”

BacktoFrankBlack.com has gone to tremendous lengths to get a campaign going, and it has been quite successful so far. They have been in contact with various members of the cast and crew of Millennium, including creator Chris Carter, producer Frank Spotnitz and actor Lance Henriksen. Hopefully the fans and the people that brought us Millennium can get this thing off the ground and into our movie theaters as soon as possible!

If you are interested in helping to bring this great show to the big screen, head on over to BacktoFrankBlack.com and find out how to participate in the campaign. They have a letter template up on the site for writing to FOX, and they also have a presence on Facebook and MySpace. Lastly, you can check out their podcast, “The Millennium Group Sessions,” either on their website or you can search for it on iTunes.

The last time PopcornMonster.com reported on the subject, it was rumored that Chris Carter may not be involved and that a director by the name of Brett A. Hart was interested in helming the film. I supposed that since no director has been locked in, and Chris Carter is also interested, it could go in any direction at this point. To me, it really makes sense for Carter to direct.

My hope is not only for the film to get made, but that it is true to the series, and that the character of Frank Black (Lance Henriksen) is able to complete his journey.  That’s really all any fan can hope for, right?
