Looks like 3-D is a go for the next Resident Evil movie! Not only that, but Milla Jovovich says she’s set to play Alice once again – well actually, a bunch of Alices!

Jovovich had this to say about Paul W.S. Anderson, director of the first Resident Evil and the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife, and the 3-D work he’s doing for the latest installment due late 2010:

Paul just signed a deal with the people Cameron used on AVATAR because they impressed him the most. [Paul] has basically seen like every 3-D movie ever made in the last two months to prepare for it. We’re definitely using all the best equipment. All the storyboards are centered around how to make the 3-D the best it can be. We’re really trying to use that medium to its fullest.

When talking about her role in Afterlife, she mentioned all the work that will go into playing not just Alice, but also her clones that we saw at the end of Resident Evil: Extinction:

I’m the lead role [again],” says Jovovich. “There’s the clones and it’s going to be a lot of work. I’m gonna be working every day for the next four months on this and it’s gonna be bigger than ever. It’s super-exciting.

The clones are definitely in it. You’ve got multiple Alice’s kicking serious butt. And definitely the real Alice has some pretty major things happen to her that change the stakes a little bit. That’s probably all I can give you in a vague sort of way. It’s definitely going to be a different Alice than who we’re used to.

What cool news! I love the Resident Evil movies, and I never expected the next one to go 3-D. I figured Milla Jovovich would be back, given the ending to the last film, and the fact that Paul Anderson is her husband. This should be good fun.
