Snow White and the Huntsman

Hollywood has keenly set its sights on the story of Snow White recently, developing various projects which all re-imagine the classic fairytale. First off, a few weeks ago, ABC just debuted its new show, Once Upon a Time, which centers around Snow White’s daughter discovering her fairytale past while living in the real world. There is also a theatrical film set to debut next March titled Mirror, Mirror, starring Lily Collins as Snow White, an exiled princess who seeks out seven rebels to win back her birthright after the evil Queen, played by Julia Roberts, steals control of the kingdom.

To top it all off, a third, and possibly more visually epic take on the Snow White story is coming to theaters this June titled Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron as the Queen, and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman. In this particular retelling, a Huntsman is ordered by the Queen to kill Snow White, but instead winds up becoming her protector and fellow warrior in a quest to annihilate the Queen. Now, before you go and write off the film as just another Twilight-ish movie simply because Stewart’s in it, watch the trailer and then form your opinion. I think you’ll be quite surprised at how good this looks!

Campbell_Oz_Denied

Last August, actor Bruce Campbell tweeted that he had a cameo in director Sam Raimi’s Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz the Great and Powerful, which was not really a surprise since Campbell and Raimi go way back and have worked together on many films, most notably The Evil Dead series. However, a few days ago, Campbell posted a new tweet saying that his cameo has been cut from the film. In fact, the cameo was never shot to begin with. Hit the jump to read what he had to say!

Red Tails

Trailer #3 for Lucasfilm’s Red Tails has hit the web, and is by far the best trailer yet for the film. Directed by Anthony Hemingway and produced by George Lucas, the film chronicles the story of the first African-American fighter pilots to serve in World War II. This new trailer balances drama and character with just the right amount of action to let us know that this is one WWII movie that you do not want to miss out on. And besides, isn’t it appealing enough that this a Lucasfilm production that isn’t a Star Wars or Indiana Jones film? Hit the jump for the official synopsis of Red Tails and to watch the trailer!

The Hobbit_3D_2

It has been since July that we received the third production video for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. Now, finally, we have Production Video #4 (via Jackson’s Facebook page), featuring a 10-minute, extensive look into the filming of The Hobbit in 3-D. Believe me when I say that it is actually broken down in layman’s terms very well, and you will never be more excited for The Hobbit films in 3-D than after watching this video. It is absolutely fascinating.

Not only that, but there is plenty of footage to behold of Gandalf (Ian McKellen), Bilbo (Martin Freeman) and the 13 dwarves venturing through Middle Earth (particularly Mirkwood) as it exists in the studio, which is plenty to get fans of The Lord of the Rings hyped up for when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters on December 14, 2012. There is even a brief moment with an old familiar face checking out the crew filming in 3-D, and you’ll just have to hit the jump and watch the video to see who it is!

Andy-Serkis_Caesar

Andy Serkis (Gollum from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) delivered an amazing CGI motion-capture performance as Caesar in this summer’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which was a surprisingly great film altogether. When it made a whopping $453 million worldwide, 20th Century Fox knew that a sequel was in order, and that they needed to get Serkis to lead the ape revolt into future sequels, as he had originally only signed on for the first film.

Today, Fox’s wish became a reality, as Deadline is reporting that Andy Serkis has indeed officially signed on for further sequels. Read on for more!

Spielberg

Indiana Jones fans have been divided over his latest adventure in Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Some enjoyed it overall (like myself), while others couldn’t get past things like Mutt swinging with monkeys, CGI gophers, or Indiana Jones surviving a nuclear blast. Either way, it seems like the general consensus among fans is that perhaps Indy needs one more outing, whether it’d simply be for the fun of it, or to right a few wrongs.

Empire recently sat down with Spielberg to ask for an update on Indy 5, and also got the chance to hear his thoughts on some of the critiques Crystal Skull has received since it first hit theaters in 2008. Hit the jump to find out what he had to say!

Maul_3D

If you were one of the few people who went to see Paul W.S. Anderson’s The Three Musketeers in 3-D this weekend, you should have seen the new trailer for Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace in 3-D attached to the film. I actually went to see The Three Musketeers (which is actually a pretty entertaining movie in 3-D) and saw the trailer, and the 3-D looks pretty impressive. Lucasfilm has made sure to have people who actually worked on the film convert it to 3-D, and they have been taking their sweet little time with it instead of rushing it out like Clash of the Titans did last year.

You’ll have to check out The Three Musketeers in 3-D if you want to see the 3-D trailer for The Phantom Menace, but you can check out the trailer in 2-D after the jump, which is still a fun trailer in and of itself.
