Last August, actor Bruce Campbell tweeted that he had a cameo in director Sam Raimi’s Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz the Great and Powerful, which was not really a surprise since Campbell and Raimi go way back and have worked together on many films, most notably The Evil Dead series. However, a few days ago, Campbell posted a new tweet saying that his cameo has been cut from the film. In fact, the cameo was never shot to begin with. Hit the jump to read what he had to say!

Via Bruce Campbell’s Twitter:

“My scene in Oz has been cut before the shooting. It happens on epic flicks. Disappointed, but all good w/Sam. On to the next adventure!”

It really is too bad that his scene will never see the light of day. As /Film points out, it would’ve been nice to have it as a scene that was shot, but cut from the finished film. That way, we’d probably be able to at least see it included with the Blu-ray’s deleted scenes. But alas, it was not meant to be. At least he’ll be making an appearance (allegedly) in the new Evil Dead remake, a film he and Sam Raimi are co-producing.

Oz the Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi, stars James Franco, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Abigail Spencer and Joey King. It is slated to hit theaters March 8, 2013.
