Two weeks ago, the disappointing news came that Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series would no longer air on the network, and that we would only be receiving “bonus content” to wrap up certain story arcs from the show. Thus far, there has been no word yet on just what exactly we’ll be seeing in these arcs, except for the preview clip we were shown when the announcement came, and we still do not know how we will be receiving said content.

However, TheForce.net‘s Eric Geller stated today that, according to his source, we will be receiving two different completed story arcs, which means that anything else Lucasfilm Animation (currently going through layoffs) was currently working on besides these two arcs will be scrapped. Read on for what Geller had to say on the matter.

Via TheForce.net’s Eric Geller:

A source in the know tells me that Lucasfilm is only finishing two story arcs from the material that they had planned for The Clone Wars Season Six. Among the story arcs that will not emerge in this post-cancellation era is one that dealt with Boba Fett and the other bounty hunters who have menaced the heroes for several seasons. This story arc, which my source tells me was almost done, would have shown us the fates of Cad Bane and Aurra Sing.

At this point, all we can really do is speculate on what we will see. I think I speak for most fans when I say that one of these story arcs that will most likely be finished will deal with the aftermath of what happened at the end of Season Five, as it was obviously the biggest event that has ever happened on the show (sorry, I can’t really say any more without spoiling it for those who have not yet seen the Season Finale), and needs resolution more than any of past arcs from the series. The Clone Wars Supervising Director Dave Filoni did say in his video announcement that these stories will be “some of the most exciting, most important story arcs” the show has to offer, so it would seem to me that closing out this particular story would be “most important.”

As far as the other story arc, I am much less confident on what it will be. Since we apparently know that it will unfortunately not deal with fan favorites Boba Fett, Cad Bane, and Aurra Sing, perhaps it will deal with the Clone Trooper Rex, who has gained quite a following over the years. Others have been speculating that it will be the Rush Clovis arc that was pushed back from Season Five. Or, perhaps it will be these two story arcs, and we won’t get any resolution to the events of the Season Five Finale, and these arcs simply are not as important as Filoni implied.

Whatever the case may be, the possibilities are endless at this point. All of this is mere speculation until we receive an official announcement from Disney/Lucasfilm. In the meantime, fans should continue to show their support for the show by writing letters via snail mail to Disney and Lucasfilm at the addresses below (via SaveTheCloneWars.com).
