According to Variety, Will Smith’s next film has come down to two choices: Sony’s Men in Black 3, or 20th Century Fox’s fantasy film The City that Sailed.

From Variety, here is the description of the plot for The City that Sailed:

“Penned by Andrew Niccol (The Truman Show), “City that Sailed” revolves around a New York street magician who is unhappily separated from his young daughter. The girl, who moves to London, finds magic candles that make her wishes comes true, with unintended consequences: The island of Manhattan separates from the continent and floats toward England, bringing her dad ever closer.”

The article goes on to say that the first Men in Black movie grossed $587.8 million worldwide and that its sequel earned $441.8 million globally. To me, it sounds like Will Smith will go for the obvious money-maker and do the next MIB movie. However, his film company, Overbrook Films, brought The City that Sailed over to Fox, so it is very possible he might go for that film instead.

It is unclear from the article whether or not he won’t do one of the films after he picks which one he wants to do now. Personally, I would love to see either of these movies so it makes little difference to me which one he picks now – unless picking The City that Sailed means that he won’t do MIB 3. I would like to see at least one more silly story with Agent Jay battling aliens. Hopefully he just does both.

If he picks MIB 3, my only question then will be, will Tommy Lee Jones also be back as Agent Kay?
