After recent reports that The Dark Knight director, Christopher Nolan, is shepherding (not directing, but rather overseeing) the next Superman film from Warner Brothers and DC Comics, we have now learned from Latino Review that David Goyer (writing consultant for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) has been hired to pen the next Superman film entitled The Man of Steel!

For those of you not in the know, George Lucas has been hard at work lately. Not only is he very involved with The Clone Wars animated series on Cartoon Network, he is also executive producer for the upcoming film Red Tails – a film that he has been wanting to get made for years now about the first African American WWII fighter pilots.

First Showing.net posted a story recently that George Lucas is not happy with the material that Red Tails director, Anthony Hemingway, has shot thus far and that the film needs to go through major re-writes and re-shoots that would drastically affect the characters and plot. Not only that, but Lucas would have to direct these re-shoots himself! Well, Lucasfilm says this is just not true, according to an article on Digital Spy.

We all knew it was only a matter of time before Avatar sank the Titanic for biggest money-making movie in the U.S. Well, as of yesterday, Avatar has taken in 601.2 million in the U.S., which beats Titanic‘s $600.8 million U.S. Box Office gross – making Avatar the biggest money-making film of all time (not adjusted for inflation).

In April ’09, I posted some news about Kevin Grevioux’s upcoming Darkstorm Studios graphic novel I, Frankenstein being adapted into a feature film. Well, Lakeshore Entertainment has picked up the script from Death Ray Films (which began developing the project last April) and has given the greenlight to produce the film. It will still will be directed by Patrick Tatopoulos (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans), with production beginning in July 2010!
