New Featurette for OBLIVION Showcases IMAX Format (Updated)

A brand new featurette has debuted for director Joseph Kosinski’s latest film, Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough, and Olga Kurylenko. This time around, Kosinski and Cruise discuss shooting the film for IMAX, and how viewing the film in the larger format will create a much more immersive and satisfying experience, since both the top and bottom of the frame will then be exposed to fill out the entire IMAX screen with the film’s breathtaking landscape shots. Update: Another featurette for the movie has also emerged, detailing what it was like to shoot the vast landscapes of Iceland, and how the region’s 24-hour daylight proved to be quite useful for the shoot. Check out both featurettes below!

Official Synopsis:

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.
