Ever since the Comic-Con trailer for Marvel’s Thor leaked onto the web last July, and was then quickly taken down by the powers that be, Marvel fans (especially those who couldn’t attend Comic-Con) have been clamoring to see an official trailer get released.

Well, here it is – the first official trailer for Marvel’s Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh. Hit the jump to watch!

Official Plot Synopsis:

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Is it just me, or does this just look frickin’ awesome?

Marvel’s Thor is just one of a few different comic-book movies that will eventually tie in to The Avengers film (also from Marvel), which will include the characters of “Thor,” “Iron Man,” “Nick Fury,” “Captain America” and “The Hulk.”

Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh, stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and Rene Russo. The film hits theaters nationwide May 6, 2011. Captain America: The First Avenger will then follow that same summer in July, with The Avengers being released the year after in May of 2012.
