Deadline reports that Men in Black 3 is officially a go now, with Columbia Pictures releasing the film on May 25, 2012! Will Smith has already signed on, and director Barry Sonnenfeld will direct the film, shooting in in 3D.

An official press release for Power of the Dark Crystal from Jim Henson Company and Omnilab Media has been issued today, revealing just who will be directing this sequel to the original 1982 classic, The Dark Crystal. No, it’s not Genndy Tartakovsky (Star Wars: Clone Wars, Samurai Jack), as was previously reported. Nope, it’s Daybreakers directors Michael and Peter Spierig who will be helming the film. Recently, it was going around the web that Kick-Ass director Mathew Vaughn was the front-runner to direct X-Men: First Class. Then, it was said that the deal fell through last Thursday, and that other directors were now lined up. However, according to Deadline, all that has changed once again and 20th Century Fox is closing a deal with Mathew Vaughn after all.

Originally, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot company (Lost, Star Trek) had the rights to adapt The Dark Tower book series by Stephen King into a TV series. However, they ended up deciding that they would not be able to do the books justice and no longer have the rights to make it.
Now, both Heat Vision and Deadline are reporting that Imagine Entertainment and Weed Road Productions have obtained the rights, and that Ron Howard would direct with Brian Grazer and Akiva Goldsman producing along with Stephen King.
