Tom Fitzgerald_George Lucas

Star Wars has been all over the news lately ever since Star Tours: The Adventures Continue debuted in Orlando, Florida this past weekend. Recently, Kevin Pereira from G4’s Attack of the Show interviewed Disney Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald and film director George Lucas about what we can expect from the newly-updated ride (it hasn’t been updated since its debut in 1987) and, from what it sounds like, this is the Star Wars experience fans do not want to miss out on!

On the more interesting side of things, not only did they discuss the new ride, but Lucas also went into detail about why his 3D releases of the Star Wars films (starting next February with The Phantom Menace) will be much better than other recent releases of post-converted 3D movies, and also discussed the hang-up with the Star Wars live-action TV series and just how far along they actually are with it (the answer may surprise you!). Scorpion

With each episode of director Kevin Tancharoen’s Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series that goes live, the stories seem to get more and more interesting, especially for the fans that know this universe from playing the games religiously. Episode 7 is no different, featuring Scorpion (Ian Anthony Dale) and Sub Zero (Kevan Ohtsji) in Part 1 of what is presumably a two-part storyline. This one is an absolute must-watch for fans. Check it out below!

Real Steel Poster Crop 02

A couple of weeks ago, an awesome full-length trailer for director Shawn Levy‘s Real Steel made its way online. Green Lantern_3D

If you thought the last trailer for Green Lantern was awesome, wait until you see this! Essentially, this trailer (which will be in 3-D in theaters) takes a unique approach as far as movie trailers go, with the first half providing a narration by the character Tomar-Re (voiced by Geoffrey Rush) wonderfully summarizing the entire history of the Green Lantern Corps, and the second half going full throttle with tons of new action-packed footage! Take a look below (in 2-D, of course)!

TF3_3D Trailer

Transformers: Dark of the Moon has a new 3-D trailer out which will be shown before Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides if you go and see it in 3-D (which, from what I hear, is totally not worth it). Obviously, this trailer will not be in 3-D on this website, but it is still a great trailer in 2-D and, while it is very similar to the one just released a few weeks ago, it features a few new mind-blowing shots that are well worth a look. Check out the trailer after the jump!

Bane_Mosaic

Today, the official website for Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated film, The Dark Knight Rises finally launched, delivering quite an odd viral campaign for the film. If you go to the website, it takes you to a black page with an audio clip of strange chanting playing in the background. If you’re much, much smarter than I am, you’ll figure out that the audio file can lead you to a Twitter feed called @TheFireRises that sends out replies to users putting the hashtag #TheFireRises in a status update, which in turn takes user avatars to compose a mosaic that will eventually reveal an image of Tom Hardy as Bane. Whew!

While the Twitter feed is still sending out replies as of right now, thankfully someone got their timing screwed up and already posted the photo on The Dark Knight Rises Facebook page. Hit the jump to check it out!

showrunners

The world of TV programming can be quite challenging, especially ever since The X-Files essentially paved the way for modern television shows by producing a mini-movie every week. It is simply the gold standard for today’s hour-long fiction shows, as modern audiences have now come to experience with LOST, Battlestar Galactica, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Fringe, etc. Anything less just would not make it past TV executives these days; and, even if the quality of the show is great, that does not mean the show will last (as fans of ABC’s V have recently witnessed).

Director Des Doyle’s documentary Showrunners (currentlly in production) dives deeply into the subject of just what it takes to make a quality television show and just how ugly it can get sometimes. It features interviews with many big names in the TV industry, including Damon Lindelof (LOST), Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman (Fringe). Check out the official synopsis and trailer for the documentary after the jump!

Star Tours 2

If you have ever been to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Flordia or Disneyland in Anaheim, California, chances are you have ridden Star Tours – a flight simulator ride that whisks you away to various locations within George Lucas’s Star Wars universe. If you rode it in the 1980s or 90s, you might have thought it was really cool. However, experiencing it now may prove to feel a bit outdated.

In 2005, George Lucas announced that a new version of the ride was in the works that would include new 3-D flight simulation scenarios. Fans were overjoyed at the news, and have long since awaited the arrival of the new Star Tours, which finally opens on May 20th at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and June 3rd at Disneyland. Hit the jump to watch a brand new ad for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue!

Raiden

The fifth episode of director Kevin Tancharoen’s Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series is now online, featuring Raiden (Ryan Robbins) – thunder god of the Mortal Kombat universe and protector of Earthrealm. While not the most violent episode of the web series (as fans of the video game series might expect), the story is actually quite interesting and definitely leaves it open for the series to tell more of Raiden’s story. Dark Tower_02

Last week, some reports appeared online claiming that the Universal-Imagine-NBC film/TV adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower book series hit some snags and that the project was in turnaround (meaning it might not happen or could move to another studio home).

Yesterday, Universal stated that they are in fact keeping the project, but that the “snags” that were reported had to do with budgetary concerns the studio has. As of right now, producers Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Akiva Goldsman are working on trying to bring the budget down. Read on for more info and speculation on what this could mean for Universal’s epic project.
