The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Joss Whedon’s The Avengers busted a lot of blocks when it debuted two years ago. It represented everything Marvel fans had been waiting for, ever since the news broke that a big budget live-action cinematic universe was being created through various stand-alone comic book movies that would eventually unite the title characters of those films into one gigantic mega force to be reckoned on screen. The idea was bold (very bold indeed), and it paid off – big time. Expectations were through the roof for Marvel’s The Avengers, and as far as I can tell, those expectations were pretty much met all across the board. Everyone loves this movie.

So how do you live up to the seemingly unbeatable legacy of the first film with a sequel? Honestly, I have no idea. All I know is that the first teaser trailer for The Avengers: Age of Ultron makes the movie look like it has a pretty darn good chance. Hit the jump to watch (Updated with new clip from the film)!

Tomorrowland

Sometimes all you need is a simple tease to become intrigued, as is the case with the first teaser trailer for Disney’s Tomorrowland, directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), and starring George Clooney and Britt Robertson.

Not much is revealed here – not much at all really. But what is shown is surprisingly plenty enough to get sci-fi enthusiasts licking their chops for more. This just looks great, and is the perfect way to get audiences interested without spoiling too much. Hit the jump for a brief synopsis and the teaser!

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

The first teaser trailer for Peter Jackson’s final chapter in The Hobbit Trilogy has arrived. It shows us plainly that The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will mostly be about one thing – war, as Thorin Oakenshield puts it here in our first real glimpse of the film. But if it has that special Jackson, Walsh and Boyens touch behind the script and direction that the teaser seems to imply, this should prove to be quite an emotional ride as well.

It really is a well put together trailer, featuring the song “Home is Behind,” as sung by Billy Boyd in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, playing over images of armies marching to battle and beloved characters facing ultimate peril against the various evil forces threatening Middle Earth. Oh, and we see a bit of Smaug burning things, which of course is really cool. All in all, quite a tease indeed! Hit the jump to watch!

Jupiter Ascending

Originally included in Popcorn Monster’s Top 10 List for movies to see this summer, the release of the Wachowski sibling’s sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending has since been delayed from July 18th to Februrary 6, 2015, presumably due to so many other big releases arriving this summer (since their last film, Cloud Atlas bombed, the studio may not have as much confidence in the directors’ latest endeavor to put it up against other summer releases).

Nevertheless, the previews for the film look astounding to say the least, and it truly bums me out that this film isn’t coming out sooner. Hopefully the delayed the movie’s release to the traditionally more dead movie month of Februrary will give the Wachowskis enough time to polish the film more and make it an even better experience for audiences (and perhaps produce better box office results). Hit the jump for the amazing second trailer!

Dracula Untold

The first trailer for Dracula Untold, starring Luke Evans (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as the man who becomes the blood-sucking vampire of legend, has made its way online. This is really the first movie where we actually get a full-blown origin story on the character, and, from the looks of it, we’re basically getting The Lord of the Rings with vampires. The trailer really does sell on the story as well as the visual effects, and it actually doesn’t look all that bad. Perhaps a giant fantasy epic featuring Dracula may just be what we need to breathe new life into the character? Hit the jump to check out the trailer and decide for yourself!

If you thought the first trailer for director Jonathan Liebesman’s upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action film didn’t look so hot, you might want to take a look at the new trailer that just debuted today. It is by far a much better look at what to expect from the movie, and it looks awesome. Lots of action, better glimpses at what the Ninja Turtles look like, a brief look at Master Splinter, and we finally get to see the Shredder – who, by the way, is going to give “Super Shredder” from 1991’s TMNT II a run for his money. Hit the jump to watch!

Ninja Turtles Teaser

Attention, 80s kids! Our first real look at this summer’s new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is now online in the first teaser for the film. Produced by Michael Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman, this film will be the first Ninja Turtles live-action movie to feature the title characters using CGI and motion-capture effects, and I have to say, it looks both quite realistic – and also kind of creepy. Judging from the teaser, however, it does look like they are definitely pushing for the dark and gritty feel of the original comics, while still capturing the light-hearted essence of the original cartoon and movies. Forgetting the live-action sequels of the 90s, the first film proved that this concept can work quite well. Let’s hope they finally pull it off again. Hit the jump to watch the teaser!

Screen shot 2014-02-25 at 8.10.09 AM

It’s here. The first official full-length trailer for director Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla film has hit the web, and it has everything a fan could want, and yet still doesn’t show us much of the monster – which is great. We want to be teased mercilessly until the film’s debut in May.

In the new trailer, we mostly see more destruction, with Bryan Cranston’s character exhuding ominous warning via voice-over, coupled with the classic soundtrack from 2001: A Space Odessey (I know that sounds weird, given that this is not a space movie, but trust me, it works). The first teaser was great, but this one’s even better and will get you pumped. Hit the jump to watch!

Need something to hold you over before the release of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug next month? Well, how about a new (and long-overdue) behind-the-scenes production diary, video of today’s worldwide Live Q&A Fan event with Jackson and company, and an epic new trailer? Yeah, I think that just might do it.

Today’s Live fan event, which was simulcast all around the world, covered a wide range of topics surrounding The Hobbit Trilogy, including what it was like coming back to the production this past summer for 10 additional weeks of shooting, which apparently was the toughest block of shooting Jackson had ever endured in his life. Fans were joined by the likes of Andy Serkis, Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lily, Lee Pace, Richard Armitage, Peter Jackson, and others to answer questions fans have been dying to have answered. On top of that, the event saw the debut of Production Video #12 as well as a brand trailer for the film, which I’m guessing will be the last one we see before the film’s debut next month. You can check out everything in one video after the jump (or just watch the trailer and Production Video separately).

So sit back, relax, and take in a very heavy dose of Middle Earth!
