Two weeks ago, the disappointing news came that Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series would no longer air on the network, and that we would only be receiving “bonus content” to wrap up certain story arcs from the show. Thus far, there has been no word yet on just what exactly we’ll be seeing in these arcs, except for the preview clip we were shown when the announcement came, and we still do not know how we will be receiving said content.

However, TheForce.net‘s Eric Geller stated today that, according to his source, we will be receiving two different completed story arcs, which means that anything else Lucasfilm Animation (currently going through layoffs) was currently working on besides these two arcs will be scrapped. Ever since Disney acquired Lucasfilm back in October last year and announced that Star Wars: Episodes VII-IX would be produced, fans of Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars have been wondering for quite some time now what the fate of the show would be. At first, people thought that maybe the show would continue on a Disney network, but after the recent announcement that the 3D re-releases of Star Wars: Episodes II & III would be postponed in order to focus all efforts on the new live-action Star Wars films, we then suspected that Disney/Lucasfilm would see fit to end The Clone Wars after it ended its fifth season since their focus obviously lies somewhere else.

As it turns out, the rumors were basically true, in that yes, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming to an end. However, it is simply winding down, meaning that we will get more episodes of the show in the future, which we have already known were in production for quite some time before Season Five even ended. These new episodes, however, will not air on Cartoon Network (the network only signed a five-season deal), and an announcement is imminent as to where fans can find these all-new episodes. This decision, as well as the postponement of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich’s Star Wars: Detours, have both been made in light of not only Disney/Lucasfilm’s setting their sights on the new Star Wars films, but also an entirely new animated series set in an era of the Star Wars universe previously unexplored on film or television.

For X-Philes who have been waiting patiently to see what happens after The X-Files: I Want to Believe, they will be getting the next best thing to a third feature film very soon.

IDW, the company behind 2009’s incredibly awesome X-Files/30 Days of Night crossover comic series (co-published by DC/Wildstorm), has announced that they are creating a whole new line of comics for The X-Files, picking up right where I Want to Believe left off. Not only that, but the company is also reprinting the classic Topps and DC/Wildstorm X-Files comics that ran sporadically from 1995-2009. Back in 1993, Chris Carter was a new name to the television business when he delivered the pilot episode for The X-Files, a science-fiction series that raised the stakes for what could be done with fictional storytelling on TV, and gradually became one of the Fox network’s biggest hits. By the time the show’s third season rolled around, it was clear to Fox that Chris Carter had practically become a household name, and that any new series with his name on it could potentially give the network its next groundbreaking success. In light of this revelation, Fox decided to give Carter another crack at developing something entirely new for the network that might captivate audiences just as much, if not more than The X-Files. Millennium was Carter’s bold response to that challenging proposition.

Back in the 90s, Chris Carter was a name that was inescapable for regular television viewers of the time. After creating The X-Files, one of FOX’s biggest hits of all time, it was clear the man had talent and could take TV to places it had never gone before. He also developed such cult hits as Millennium and Harsh Realm, but they unfortunately never really got the attention they deserved and were canceled far too soon.

Lately, however, Carter has been working his way back to TV. Last year, it was reported that he was developing a “female-lead mystery police thriller” titled Unique, which unfortunately ended up getting canned before it could ever get off the ground. Now, he’s back at it again, this time with a show more in the vein of The X-Files called The After, featuring a story centered around a mysterious event that contains elements of “science fiction, suspense, and real-world fear and paranoia,” according to Deadline. Season 3 of the hit television horror drama The Walking Dead is just over a week away from its premiere on Sunday, October 14th, and AMC has just released a new trailer for the show, showing us more of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) leading his followers into the nearby prison for safety, as well as some scenes with Andrea (Laurie Holden) and newcomer Michonne (Danai Gurira). For those of you who are getting more and more anxious for the Season 3 premiere of AMC‘s The Walking Dead, the network has just debuted new webisodes for the show on the official site to hold you over until the show’s October 14th premiere!

Titled Cold Storage, this second web series for The Walking Dead is developed, produced, and directed by Greg Nicotero, who not only does special effects and make-up for the actual TV series, but also acts as co-executive producer. The latest web series consists of four episodes, and you can hit the jump to read more about them.

It has been a while since PopcornMonster.com’s last report regarding the Back to Frank Black campaign and their efforts to get a movie made based on Chris Carter’s much beloved cult TV series Millennium, which starred actor Lance Henriksen (The Terminator, Aliens) as the main character, Frank Black, and ran for three seasons on the FOX network before it was canceled in 1999. While a movie still has yet to be green-lit, whether in the form of a feature film or TV movie, the movement still continues to gain support from Carter, Henriksen, series producer Frank Spotnitz, and countless fans all around the world.

BTFB‘s latest effort comes in the form of an extensive companion book to the series titled Back to Frank Black: A Return to Chris Carter’s Millennium, slated for release by the end of this month. The book includes forwards by Henriksen and Spotnitz, as well as an introduction by Carter. The book’s content consists of a number of interviews with the cast and crew from Millennium, including writers Glen Morgan and James Wong (who wrote some of my favorite episodes from the show), and even boasts an essay written by fan-favorite Brittany Tiplady, who played Frank Black’s daughter. Also included are various essays from a number of well-respected authors with a wealth of knowledge regarding the TV series, including award-winning media critic John Kenneth Muir, who recently published Horror Films of he 1990s last year.

For Millennium enthusiasts, this book is definitely a must-have, and a great way to show that the fanbase behind the series is still very much alive and well, and continues to gain new fans to this day. If you have been seeing a sudden boost in Star Wars news lately, it is mainly due to the recent Star Wars Celebration VI convention held in Orlando, FL this past weekend. For starters, we were given our first look at Seth Green and Matthew Senreich’s Star Wars Detours, followed shortly thereafter with the announcement of Star Wars Episodes II & III getting released in 3D back-to-back in 2013.

But of course, the main focus with Star Wars right now is Cartoon Network’s hit television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which will be entering its fifth season on September 29th. Fans of the show can say with confidence that it has grown exponentially since the feature film and first couple of seasons, and this latest trailer for the series (first shown at Celebration VI) puts this on display with absolute perfection.

This is not really so much a kiddie show anymore, folks. Not only do we get more Death Watch, Savage Opress, and Darth Maul this time around, but we also get to finally see the Sith master himself, Darth Sidious, in person getting in on the action, flawlessly wielding two lightsabers. The trailer really shows us that the series will take on a much more serious and darker tone, and also deal with the major repercussions of the Wars themselves and what they mean to the future of the Republic and the Jedi. Details have been scarce regarding Seth Green and Matthew Senreich’s (creators of Robot Chicken) upcoming Star Wars spinoff series, Star Wars: Detours, but now that has all changed, thanks to a panel they held at Star Wars Celebration VI, the latest Star Wars convention currently happening in Orlando, Florida this weekend.

The show was first announced over two years ago, with StarWars.com making the official announcement, and George Lucas himself vaguely discussing it later that year at Celebration V. The only details known at the time were that the show, then titled Squishies, would appeal to all ages, and utilize characters from all corners of the Star Wars universe to tell comedic stories dealing with “normal, mundane everyday problems.”

Yesterday, the Star Wars Detours Facebook page was unveiled, and today the first trailer and clips from the new animated TV show that were shown at Star Wars Celebration VI have now made their way online for all to enjoy. Hit the jump to watch!
