Earlier this week, the announcement came from 20th Century Fox that the studio plans to release the long-rumored (and long-awaited, perhaps?) sequel to Roland Emmerich’s 1996 blockbuster Independence Day on July 3, 2015. Now, more details have emerged discussing the script and possible returning cast members, but the story surprisingly leaves out Will Smith’s character from the first film. Read on for more!

Well, much like what happened with The Dark Knight Rises last year, another “final” trailer has been released for Man of Steel, this time via Nokia. But, even though the marketing machine has gone spinning almost completely out of control for director Zack Snyder’s soon-to-be released Superman reboot, and this website’s front page is currently populated with tons of trailers and featurettes for the film (I’ve avoided any recent movie clips and TV spots that have been released), that doesn’t make this latest trailer from Nokia any less awesome. There is much to soak in with this new extended featurette – plenty to get us geeked for what’s to come June 14th. Hit the jump to watch!

Goyer, and other select members of the cast and crew of the film discuss the idea of re-imagining the character of Superman to create a story where it feels like the character could really exist in our modern-day world – an idea not too dissimilar from Goyer’s work on The Dark Knight Trilogy with Christopher Nolan, who also co-produced Man of Steel. Hit the jump to check out some new footage and learn more about their approach to the film, and to take a peek at a bit of new footage!

A new featurette has debuted online via Yahoo! Movies where Pacific Rim director Guillermo Del Toro takes us on a tour of the massive four-story set built to convey just what exactly it would be like to be on the inside of one of the giant, man-powered robots known as Jaegers in the film. He pretty much describes it as a little amusement park simulator that creates a much more realistic sense of resistance for the actors to bounce off of, and when you watch the featurette, you’ll see just exactly what he means by that, as the actors really were put through quite a ride while trying to act like professional Jaeger pilots.
