Anyone who has followed actor Bruce Campbell‘s career knows that he has been best buds with film director Sam Raimi since before most of us who read online movie blogs were born. He became famous for playing Ash in Raimi‘s Evil Dead Trilogy, and from there he has made appearances in many of Raimi‘s productions, including the Spider-Man trilogy. So it should come as no surprise whatsoever that Bruce Campbell has confirmed (via Twitter) that he will play a role in Raimi‘s upcoming Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz the Great and Powerful, which is currently filming in Michigan (Campbell and Raimi‘s home state). Read on to find out what Campbell had to say about the role!

Bruce Campbell Twitter:

“I. Am. In. Oz. Sam Raimi refuses to tell me what character I will portray. Just know that the role is PIVOTAL.”

So, as of right now, not much is known about the role except that it seems to be important enough to keep a secret – at least for now. Or, he’s just being sarcastic about its importance. Either way, the main thing is that fans now have confirmation that Campbell has once again landed a role in a Sam Raimi film, which is always exciting. Based on their history of work together, we can probably rest assured that we’ll enjoy his character, no matter what the role is!

Oz the Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi, stars James Franco, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Abigail Spencer, Joey King and now Bruce Campbell. It is slated to hit theaters March 8, 2013.
