When fans think of Star Wars, various memorable characters come to mind that define that universe. Whether it’d be Luke Skywalker, Qui-Gon Jinn, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, etc. – everyone has a favorite. One character we can all agree on that simply is the very essence of Star Wars is Chewbacca. Even if he’s not your favorite character, he is probably in your top five.

For this very reason (in case you hadn’t already heard), the creators of Cartoon Network‘s hit TV series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, are bringing back the famous wookiee for a special two-part season finale on April 1st. Hit the jump to watch a great behind-the-scenes clip of Peter Mayhew (the actor who originally portrayed Chewbacca) meeting with The Clone Wars creative team to help bring Chewie to life for a whole new generation of fans!

Now, of course there is more reason to bring Chewy into The Clone Wars besides the fact that he’s a fan favorite. As a fan myself, my hope is that this will finally shed some light on why Yoda says that he has “good relations with the wookies” in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Since The Clone Wars series takes place before then, Chewbacca’s appearance on the show makes perfect sense.

This is definitely an event Star Wars fans do not want to miss. The two-part season finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs on April 1st at 8/7c on Cartoon Network!
