Green Lantern_01

Just when I thought I might be getting worn out on comic book movies, this trailer comes along to bring me back in. Hopefully DC will finally have a new successful comic book movie franchise on their hands here, since the Batman films are really the only other ones that they have had real success with thus far. Check out the trailer for The Green Lantern after the jump!

While it appears that some effects shots need more work (particularly with the Green Lantern’s suit), the film won’t be released until next summer, so there’s still plenty of time left for polishing. Also, while some have said the humor seems out of place, I rather enjoyed some of the funny bits here (although, since I’ve never read the comic, I can’t say how accurate it is to the character). I like Ryan Reynolds‘ sense of delivery when it comes to comedy, so I’m glad some of that will be included.

I’d say that, overall, this trailer makes the film look like it’ll be one heck of a good flick. Let’s hope that it will be!

The Green Lantern, directed by Martin Campbell, stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character, along with Tim Robbins, Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard, The film is slated for theatrical release nationwide on June 17, 2011.

This first trailer has received quite a bit of negativity on various movie websites, and I can’t quite figure it out. It looks fun to me. Granted, it’s only a trailer and the movie could suck, but so far so good in my opinion.

When we went and saw Harry Potter this weekend, they showed the GL preview before the movie and people’s reactions around me seemed generally positive. I don’t know what is up with the online movie community sometimes…

Man this looks like it is going to be pretty sweet. It’s nice to see DC comics coming into the lime light to some of the extent Marvel comics has. I’ll probably see this at least twice…
