Transformers 2

[Possible Spoilers Ahead] A couple of months ago, it was revealed that the opening scene of Transformers 3 would involve some sort of “robot shaped disturbance” happening on the Moon. Well today, we now know what the official title will be, and it appears to be related to this very element of the plot. Read on to find out what it is!

The official title for the film is Transformers: The Dark of the Moon.

Speculation started when Amazon listings for three books appeared online that tie in with the third Transformers film. They were all titled Transformers: The Dark of the Moon, followed by the subtitles Invasion of the Decepticons, Secrets of the Autobots and Autobots Betrayed. The listings have now been taken down, but Collider has in fact confirmed with sources close to the production of the film that the primary title for these books is in fact the official title for the third Transformers live-action movie.

I am not so sure I like it yet, but perhaps I will get used to in in the same way I got used to Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. I had that same sort of knee-jerk reaction to it.

So, what do you think?

Transformers: The Dark of the Moon, directed by Michael Bay, hits theaters nationwide July 1, 2011.

It definitely doesn’t have quite the ring of “Revenge of the Fallen”, but I agree it is better than “Attack of the Clones”. Perhaps a title like “The Darkside of the Moon” or “The Red Moon Rises” might sound a little better but invoke thoughts of Star Wars and The Twight Saga respectively. I’m still excited to see it, despite it’s merely adequate title.
