While some people loved the fact that there were more robots in last summer’s mega blockbuster hit Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, many thought they went too far. Well, at a Q&A session at the Cary Grant Theatre on the Sony Pictures Lot, Michael Bay had something to say about what to expect in Transformers 3 in regards to the amount of Transformers we’ll see.

Here is the excerpt from the LA Times article:

So can we expect more thunderous sound in the third installment? Although the number of robots increased significantly from the first film for the second, the third film — which will hit theaters in summer 2011, won’t be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, a tight-lipped Bay said after the Q+A.

“There will be a nice crescendo ending,” Bay said. “It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you’re gonna get a much cooler landscape.”

To me, this is a good thing. Even on Blu-ray, some of the action sequences with a billion Transformers in them are just too over the top in my opinion. Sure, it was exciting to watch and definitely easier to view at home on my 42″ TV, but there was just too much to pay attention to – particularly at the end. It felt a bit messy. I always thought there should be more robots than the first film, but not this many. So this news is good news to me…

…but I really hope that they include Unicron in the third film!
