Well, the fans demanded it, and now they’ve got it. The sleeper hit, Paranormal Activity, is finally getting a nationwide theatrical release on October 16th!

Shock ‘Till You Drop is reporting that Paramount’s Demand It! website hit its goal of 1 Million demands. Their deal was if that happened, they would release the film nationwide. The studio plans to go even wider with its release on October 23rd, adding another 1,000 theaters on top of the theaters that will be playing the film this Friday. Now my only question is, why couldn’t Warner Brothers do this with Trick ‘r Treat, or the Weinstein Company with Fanboys?!

Paranormal Activity is a low budget film directed by Oren Peli about a young middle class couple that moves into what seems like a typical suburban starter tract house, only to find a presence haunting them in the middle of the night. It is sort of filmed in the style of The Blair Witch Project, and judging from the preview of the film it looks quite terrifying. I am not sure I will be seeing this movie, but it has gotten a lot of buzz on the web and from advanced screenings (it is also estimated to make around $5 Million by the end of this weekend in limited release) so I might check it out at some point. Anyhow, watch the trailers below:
