As far as the second homage, there was a meeting about the future of the Fringe division, and a comment was made about it: "X-Designation." The gray-haired actor (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0133400/" rel="nofollow">Ken Camroux</a>) who played the senator named "Kenneth Taylor" originally played a character on X-Files - one of the guys who assigned Scully to the X-Files to spy on Mulder.
