There seems to be a lot of X-Files news popping up recently all over the web. Not only has Gillian Anderson said that they might do another X-Files movie (something that X-Philes already knew), the rumor that the season premiere episode for the TV Show Fringe might pay homage to The X-Files has been confirmed!

Jeff Pinkner, executive producer for Fringe, recently told Zap2It.com this:

“Yes, it is true. [There will be] an homage to ‘X-Files.’ In fact, there are at least two in the episode. It’ll be obvious [to everyone]. Both of [the nods] are obvious.”

Also, John Noble, who plays the fan favorite “Walter” on the show, said that one of the nods will be “pictorial.”

This kind of news comes as no surprise, since Fringe is often compared to The X-Files, and J.J. Abrams (producer of Fringe) is a big fan. Also, it was originally rumored that the characters of Mulder and Scully from The X-Files would make a cameo. While this, or perhaps just David Duchovony or Gillian Anderson playing a character on Fringe could still happen, John Noble’s “pictorial” comment makes me think that it won’t. But I am still anxious to see just what exactly these homages will be!

The seaosn premiere episode with these homages to The X-Files will premiere September 17th on FOX.

I noticed that the man in the teaser was watching the “X-Files” episode “Deep Throat” when he was killed, but what was the other homage? Was it that Tegan Moss (who played the young Dana Scully in various flashbacks) had a role in the episode?

Actually, the X-Files episode that was on the TV was the Season 6 episode called “Dreamland II.”

As far as the second homage, there was a meeting about the future of the Fringe division, and a comment was made about it: “X-Designation.” The gray-haired actor (Ken Camroux) who played the senator named “Kenneth Taylor” originally played a character on X-Files – one of the guys who assigned Scully to the X-Files to spy on Mulder.

“Deep Throat” and “Dreamland II” both have shots of Mulder from above looking at a glowing U.F.O., so that’s where my mistake comes from. I totally failed to notice the other homage.
