I found this on /Film, but it actually comes from CollegeHumor.com. It’s a video montage comparing the new Star Trek film to the original Star Wars, basically showing how similar the stories are. I loved it, because I grow very tired of people not liking a film for the sole reason that the story isn’t original.

Yes, it is possible to write original stories, but for the most part EVERY IDEA HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE BEFORE. Even original Star Wars, highly regarded as one of the best films of all time, doesn’t have an entirely original story. It borrowed ideas from so many other stories that came before it. All that matters is that it takes what has come before it and makes the story its own and does a good job with it.
